BzzAgent Green Mountain Coffee Campaign

I received my kit from BzzAgent for the Green Mountain Coffee campaign. I am a no nonsense gal when it comes to making coffee. I have tried many machines in the past and at different price points, but many have left me less thrilled and with a lighter pocket book. I use a simple French Press when I make my coffee. My press is over 20 years old, easy to clean and not having to keep up with the latest "cup" or compatible system they come up with. I can drink and make as much as I want, never having to worry about my coffee getting burned.

I decided to read about the company, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (GMCR), Inc., before my product arrived to get an idea about what they carried and a little more background information. The company focuses on ethical and environmental standards when it comes to production.  They have a "higher values" system they have implemented in how they treat their employees, coffee growers, to the land's Eco-system.  It seems to encompass a morality you do not see many manufactures/brands out there use.  Many claim but fall short once you get to see the real picture.  At first, I thought it was a gimmick used to justify the higher price point to consumers but once I read and even reviewed the evidence, Fair Trade is important and implemented in everything GMCR, Inc., does.

How does the coffee taste?  This is really what surprised me more....it's great.  Better than the leading brand and smoother.  You get a full flavored drink by using the recommended amount and I like strong coffee.  The bitter notes are non-existent, so no masking with creamers, flavorings, and sugars are required.  I used less sugar than usual and found myself enjoying the base product, the forgotten COFFEE much more.  I actually liked tasting the coffee and this meant less calories when making a cup and a more satisfied palette.  I shared my samples with friends and handed out my coupons, to just find myself being asked for more of both.  I recommend trying this coffee and you will not only enjoy the taste but you get that extra "feel good" feeling for supporting a brand that cares about their impact not only environmentally, but also how they treat their employees.

I received all associated products at no (ZERO) charge.  I am not obligated by either company in supplying a favorable and/or unfavorable opinion.  My commitment is to supply an HONEST review and opinion.  My opinion may differ from yours, but is all my own.

Carol's Daughter Monoi Repairing Collection

I had over 7 different leave-in hair products under my sink and none left me even 75% satisfied with the results. I can say that the Monoi product by Carol's Daughter has left me 150% satisfied. My hair looks healthier with a beautiful shine (not oily). It does not cause break-outs but controls fly-aways and the best part, your hair is just so soft. I did not lose volume and it left my hair looking the best it could ever look.  It reduced my frizz and static is now a stranger to my locks.  I have hair down to my waist and only used what adds up to two pea sized drops.  The dispenser is easy to work and dispenses the right amount every time without waste.  I'm so happy!  I consider this my one and only leave-in from now on. The other positive, my cabinet has more room now!

I received this item free of charge from Klout and Carol's Daughter. I share my honest opinion without commitment in having to give the product a favorable/unfavorable review. Your opinion may differ from mine.

Rich & Creamy Melt Organic and Honey Melt Organic Review

Melt Butter:

The product arrived in a thick Styrofoam box with cool packs and in perfect condition. I was very impressed with the care taken in shipping both items.

Melt products are organic and are made with virgin coconut oil. Don't let the coconut oil fool you, there is no coconut flavor just like peanut oil does not taste like the nut. You get a rich and creamy texture taste but you do not have to worry as much as you would with a 100% dairy derived fat. I frankly always felt that like sugar substitutes that rarely taste like the real thing, I sort of held the same level of expectations for this spread. My highest expectation was for the Honey version and thought it would just be a good spread at the most.

I was so wrong!! I admit it (it hurts but I do) but you have to admit when you are faced with a yummy product. Why be cruel and keep it to myself!

The original version is rich and creamy with the perfect balance of saltiness and sweetness, which you would get from normal butter. You almost taste a hint of honey sweetness even though it is not in the product. It's mellow and very good. Not like margarine in any way and no oil residues are left on your palette. It melts in your mouth just like a high quality butter would and you are just left with the desire to take another shaving off with your butter knife. The product's true flavor came through and the richness increases as the spread comes to room temperature. This is when Melt's goodness can be appreciated because now the fats will be tasted and your mind will really start playing tricks on you. There is a very small amount of true butter, yet it is rich like if the entire portion was dairy derived. I looked four times thinking I missed something but it has to be the virgin coconut oil, which I had never tasted before. The list is longer of what it does not contain than what it does. Simplicity is an understatement! You can bake, cook, drizzle, saute, whip or eat it out of the container just like you would with normal butter, so that right there is not what I expected. These "hybrid products" are always limited because it's chemicals that bind them, but please do not lump the Melt brand into that group. This is nature at it's best and finally someone grasped the idea and applied it that "less is better". You keep it simple and the natural ingredients will shine. I became a fan and will be purchasing this product.

My second tub is their newer addition to the family, and that would be the Honey Melt. I will start off that when I opened the container I was surprised to see small brown specks....wait that is cinnamon. No way! This should be named Honey Cinnamon but I was not there when it came to picking a name. I have a happy moment when I see cinnamon in spreads and then comes that dread of how much was added. I like the spice very much but like paprika, a touch goes a long way. The scent was light so that was a good start. I again first taste a product as-is before spreading it on anything because I want to know if it is worthy to be added to any food item first. Um, So worthy!! I was sitting and quickly got up and took out the end part of a bread loaf because that was the first thing and I'm impatient when "yummers" are ahead. Pure bliss and it tastes like a good apple butter with the perfect sweetness and how you imagine apple butter should taste and never does. I started thinking and waiting to see restrictions, like you can't cook with me and please do not melt the product...but wait, this is the real stuff and there was none of that. No limitations or restrictions!! The product even states you can freeze it.

Melt sent me the perfect duo and I sadly have to admit that I would have kept walking at the grocery store if I had seen the product because I have been burned by claims before. It never is like the real thing and how many times did I get that a spray butter that promised it would be just like the real thing. All I ended up with was a tired trigger finger from spraying, spraying, and spraying, which then makes your food cold. Melt has fat but the better ones and it stayed true to nature, so true that it's organic. I'm the type of person that prefers a half of slice of real cake versus a whole slice of some lab created item that is like cake, but really should be spelled K-a-k-e. I missed nothing and when I open my fridge, I see it as real butter. No leaps or self fooling needs to be done because this product delivers on it's claims and the added benefit, it tastes good....really good.

Time to bake and because I did not want to bore you with the literature of why this is better health wise, please visit the site and look for yourself: http://www.meltbutteryspread.com/our-products/

I received this product via Swaggable, free of charge. I have no obligation in giving this brand a high or low mark, but my genuine opinion. Above is my honest and unbiased opinion. It may not be the same as yours but I wanted to share mine because that is what I do :).

Smartfoods Selects Hummus Chips & Popcorn

I was fortunate in being picked for another BzzAgent campaign and got to try Smartfoods Selects. They sent one large bag of Buffalo Cheddar cheese popcorn and two bags of their hummus chips. The chips came in Feta Herb and the second bag was Garlic Tomato Basil.

I will start with the Popcorn: The base of the popped kernel itself is very soft in texture. Airy when felt in the hand but spongy when you put in your mouth. Not the best feeling. Flavor factor I give it a 2 out of 5. The one star is for it smells better than it tastes. You get no heat but mostly a vinegar, almost citric acid flavor and the cheddar could just be called milk in my opinion. I had two pieces and then had 3 after. I figured something was off in my mouth, so I resealed the package. That is also where the second star comes into place, the package is resealable and stays sealed. I let a day pass and thought let's give it a try because the picture on the outside looks good and I like Buffalo sauce. Same results! Not good and for the caloric count, I'll eat something else that delivers the flavor it states but in a good way.

Feta Cheese Hummus Chips: The best of the bunch and they have such a nice crunch.  They stay firm because I also liked them so much that I went for a red bell pepper hummus dip I had in the fridge.  What a combination!  The chips have parsley and rosemary herb flecks that really balance out the Feta nicely and you do taste Feta cheese, not just some odd sour cream base that could be called any cheese.  The best part is the pepper kick you get from the black pepper and it is baked so well into the chips, you just get that freshly cracked peppercorn taste but not overpowering.  My favorite and I would purchase them again.

Garlic Tomato Basil Hummus Chips: I won't make this long but it just tasted like Ketchup.  I like ketchup on certain things but not on hummus.  You get a flavor that is very close to the flavor packets you get in soups.  The balance is off and the garlic is M.I.A.  They mention Basil, maybe those are the green colored flecks but you could really call them anything.  I have dried basil in the pantry and a live plant in the garden.  I have no idea where their basil originated from but it did not resemble either.  It was just tomato soup based broth on a chip.  I felt bad for the poor hummus chip that got subjected to this flavor :(.  Maybe my batch was made on an off day but no way would I eat these again.  Everyone tried just one chip and most that put the whole chip in their mouth, regretted not being smart like the others that just took a bite.  I felt bad sharing these and thankfully the bag did not have a large amount.  The rest were thrown away.

My take on Smartfoods is mixed.  They strike gold with the Feta Herb but did so poorly with the others.  I still like the idea of eating real food, who doesn't?  So their mantra hits home in using natural based ingredients.  I still like that they advertise great flavors like the Italian Herb Multi-grain chip and they also have a Cinnamon version.  They sound awesome but I do fear how their interpretations will taste.  I would chance it one more time and try their Granola coated Popcorn, which I saw in a Blueberry Almond Vanilla flavor and make my final decision.
